A Museum with a Mission
According to deputy curator Guo Jing, the museum’s mission goes beyond displaying historical objects. It aims to foster global awareness of the Great Wall’s cultural value through educational programs, digital technologies, and international cooperation.
A Nationally Significant Cultural Park
The museum’s reopening is part of a broader initiative to create a comprehensive Great Wall cultural park. This ambitious project spans 15 provinces and cities, focusing on heritage conservation, promoting the Wall’s historical value, and developing tourism along its ancient path.
One Wall, a Story Through the Ages
Stretching over 21,000 kilometers, the Great Wall of China was built over the course of more than a millennium – from the 7th century BC to the end of the Ming Dynasty. Its sheer scale, architectural ingenuity, and cultural impact have earned it a place among the New Seven Wonders of the World. Since 1987, the Wall has also been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
