The Hong Kong government has decided to give away 500,000 airline tickets as a way to boost the tourism industry and attract visitors back to the city.
This initiative is called “Hello Hong Kong” and was launched in early February this year, while the planning process for this initiative took two years. This plan og giving away free tickets was started primarily to attract tourists to visit the city of skyscrapers again, since they were unable to because of the rigorous covid measures.
This Asian metropolis had 56 million visitors in 2019, but due to strict covid restrictions, those who wanted to visit this city were denied entry. In the previous three years, visitors didn’t have the opportunity to visit this most densely populated city in the world, because the government issued measures prohibiting any kind of leaving and crossing borders. They believe that this initiative will attract visitors, and experts from the world of tourism predict that Hong Kong will be a top destination for this year. The application for free tickets begins at the beginning of March, and during the six months that this program will last, flight tickets will be distributed in several phases.
From March 1st, visitors from the southernmost Asian countries will first have the opportunity to apply for this prize draw, and from April 1st, visitors from Central Asian countries will be able to apply as well. For citizens of the rest of the world, registration begins on May 1st, while local residents will only be able to apply for free flight tickets from July 1st, in order to make up for time in the pandemic and missed trips. Anyone wishing to apply for an all-expense paid trip to Hong Kong can do so via the World of Winners website. Those who had the opportunity to visit this city before may be surprised by the appearance of the city as they once remembered and knew it, given that certain places and bars were closed due to the pandemic and the financial situation that befell them. However, some new places have opened and you will definitely enjoy visiting this Buddha shrine if you are the lucky winner.
